Do what you must, and come what may!
02
Where do you work now and in what position? What is your main activity?
I work at FSUE Atomflot, senior assistant to the captain. The main activity is maneuvering and controlling the vessel, providing icebreaking wiring during the watch.
03
Tell us in 3 theses about your professional path?
-After graduating from the Academy in 2016, she joined the position of 3rd assistant captain on the diesel-electric icebreaker Ivan Kruzenshtern, which operates in the Gulf of Finland.
-In 2018, having successfully won a postgraduate competition with her team with a prize in the form of an internship at the Krylov State Scientific Center, she took part in the work on ice navigation modeling for the Yamal LNG project, where she met representatives of FSUE Atomflot. I received an invitation to work, and came to the position of 2nd assistant captain of the nuclear icebreaker "50 years of Victory"
- In last year, she successfully completed an internship and was appointed to the position of senior assistant captain. She has already completed two voyages in this capacity, including the winter navigation period in the Kara Sea and summer tourist cruises to the North Pole.04
What determined your choice of profession (what attracted you and what inspires you):
The choice of profession, of course, was largely determined by romantic children's ideas about ships and the sea. But I was lucky not to be disappointed in my profession. What attracts me most about her is her versatility. A boatmaster is a person who combines skills and knowledge from many industries, ranging from, in fact, navigation, to fighting a fire or providing medical assistance.
05
Tell us about your brightest successes/achievements?
Well, the most striking achievement is that I am the world's first female senior assistant captain of a nuclear icebreaker. Although now I already have a colleague on the nuclear icebreaker Yamal, Marina Starovoitova.
In 2019, she received the Man of the Year Award in the Rising Star nomination for her work as 2 assistants (she was also the first woman in this position in the nuclear icebreaker fleet) and for a scientific article on the transport system of the Gulf of Ob. Now my CO2 transportation project is participating in the corporate competition "Energy Leaders", and has already reached the semifinals. I hope that I will be able to get to the finals with my project and compete for the victory.
06
Tell us why it's cool to work in the nuclear industry?
The nuclear icebreaker fleet is unique, there is no such thing anywhere else in the world. And the ability to manage a giant of 23,500 tons, with a shaft capacity of 55 MW, is an amazing proof that working in the nuclear industry is inexpressibly cool.
07
What kind of parting words would you give to the younger generation who are just planning to enter the industry?
Parting words to the younger generation - to study, study, and study again. All new knowledge, one way or another, is built on a fundamental basis that needs to be laid at an early stage. If a person at some point stops learning, learning something new, getting new skills - he stops developing and begins to degrade. Therefore, even the coolest specialists never stop there, but always go further, mastering something new.
