The participants of the session were female students from the main universities of the Rosatom State Corporation, young scientists, experienced specialists. The moderator was Natalia Ayrapetova, Deputy Director General for Science of JSC "SSC RF-FEI" Moderator, representative of the scientific community, ambassador of the Association of Women of the Nuclear Industry.
The mentoring session was organized to motivate female students to build a career in scientific, technical and high-tech fields and became a platform for discussion about the role and contribution of women specialists in science and technological progress, as well as to work out issues of mentoring support for the younger generation in STEM.
The speakers of the event were female specialists from high-tech industries, who presented role models of female scientists and female technology leaders from JSC Techsnabexport, the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization, JSC VNIIAES, ANO DPO Rosatom Technical Academy, FSUE Atomflot, CHU "Science and Innovation" and Gazprom Media.
Tatiana Boitsova, Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), representative of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), Training officer, Training section, On-site Inspection Division, spoke about the qualities that a female scientist should have to achieve high performance. She shared her personal story about her formation and professional development.
Maktina Eduardovna Bartsits, Deputy General Director for Legal and Corporate Work, management of the property complex of JSC VNIIAES, told how it is possible to maintain a balance between professional and personal life, showed by her own example how to combine business and motherhood and what to KNOW, how to be an "ideal" mom, and to be a mom in a resource not the same thing.
Milana Ozerina, a 1st-year graduate student of the MEPhI Research Institute, a specialist in international activities in vocational training of the ANO DPO "Rosatom Technical Academy", spoke about gender equality at the MEPhI Research Institute; By personal example, she showed how she started her professional career, about fears and motivation to choose a profession and the desire to continue her career path in the nuclear industry
Yulia Soldatova, Radiometric Engineer of the 1st category of the radiation safety group of FSUE Atomflot, expanded her knowledge and immersed her in the profession of a radiometric engineer in detail, told why the choice of an engineer's profession was made, why it is important and interesting to continue developing in this direction.
Elizaveta Moraru, instructor of operational personnel, ANO DPO "Rosatom Technical Academy", told about participation and victory in the FAST and FURIOUS competition in 2021, about what non-obvious difficulties had to be overcome in life, how she mastered her profession, which is usually perceived as male, and what changes she managed to make in working life.
Ekaterina Solntseva, advisor to the office of the head of the private institution "Science and Innovation", a representative of the scientific community, revealed the concept of science as a sphere of creative activity. She answered the question: do women have enough conditions to be successful in science? She spoke about an ambitious project in Russia, in particular, about the creation of a multi-purpose fast neutron research reactor MBIR in the Rosatom State Corporation. We discussed with the expert the qualities, motives and meanings that a female scientist should have in order to achieve high performance.
Yana Krukhmaleva, Director of Digital Infrastructure Development at Gazprom Media, spoke about the digital environment, development prospects, and the importance and necessity of the digital direction. She gave a parting message to the female students, in order to motivate them to continue their studies and build a professional path in scientific, technical and high-tech fields.
At the end of the event, experts and participants set the vector and gave suggestions for the further development of the Women in STEM project, which will be the basis for the events of the next 2022.
The event allowed students and experts to build productive communication, discuss the issues of choosing a profession, further employment and combining career and personal life that concern the younger generation. During the fruitful discussion, the participants determined a list of qualities that a female scientist and a female specialist in scientific and technical fields should possess in order to achieve high performance.
