Consultancy Meeting to Finalize the Draft Nuclear Energy Series Publication on Existing and Advanced Nuclear Fuel Cycle Technical Options for Waste Burden Minimization
Anzhelika Khaperskaya, senior manager of the Project office "Formation of SNF Management System" of the State Corporation ROSATOM, co-founder of the Fund "Association of Atomic Industry Women", member of the Eurasian Women Forum Board, Candidate of Chemical Sciences. participated as an invited expert and author in the IAEA's Consultancy Meeting to Finalize the Draft Nuclear Energy Series Publication on Existing and Advanced Nuclear Fuel Cycle Technical Options for Waste Burden Minimization.
The meeting was held February 4-6, 2020, at the headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna. It was attended by the IAEA Secretariat and experts from various participating countries (Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Korea, India, France, etc.).
The purpose of the meeting, as Angelika Khaperskaya noted, was:
- to finalize the draft technical document from the IAEA Nuclear Energy Publications series, in terms of existing and prospective NFC options;
- Discuss the possibility and plan of action to organize a Joint IAEA Study Project on prospective nuclear fuel cycle and approaches to reduce the volume and radiotoxicity of radioactive waste (RW) for disposal.
